New York City offers a multitude of breakfast restaurants, with new joints opening every week. It can be easy to be overwhelmed by the seemingly endless food options, so I have created a list of 5 breakfast spots to check out in NYC. These are only a few of my favourite breakfast and brunch spots located in Lower Manhattan.
Egg Shop
Located in Nolita
Located in the heart of Nolita, Egg Shop is a quaint spot that offers a variety of delicious breakfast dishes. Their most popular sandwiches come on ciabatta or brioche rolls and include unique ingredients such as spicy maple sausage, pickled jalapenos, pepper bacon and tomato jam. They also offer fun cocktails, specialty coffees and tea to enjoy with your meal. With the wide variety of flavourful dishes, I recommend ordering a couple of sandwiches and sharing amongst each other.
Indoor & Outdoor Seating
Seating is available indoors as well as outside. The restaurant has large doors that open up to the street for those warm summer mornings, and the additional seating outside is covered with matching décor.

You can walk in on weekdays to dine, however weekends are quite busy, and it is best to book a reservations ahead of time. Click here to book on Resy.
The Neighbourhood
After breakfast, you can explore the trendy neighborhood of Nolita and visit their many boutique stores or walk to Mulberry Street, and head south to wander through Little Italy.
Little Ruby’s Cafe
Multiple Locations in NYC
Ruby’s Café is an iconic Australian restaurant with locations in Nolita, East Village and Murray Hill. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner- their most popular dish being the Bronte burger. The Ruby’s Cafe in Nolita is always full of hip crowds, with upbeat music playing. This location is also close to all of the popular streets, with lots of shopping and boutiques nearby.
Indoor & Outdoor seating
There is ample seating indoors with large windows that open up in the summer. They also have picturesque outdoor seating.

Elizabeth Street Garden is located in the heart of Nolita- this is a great place to enjoy some peace and quiet and escape the hustle and bustle of the city before you sit down for your meal.
Buvette Gastrotheque
Located in the West Village
Located in the charming West Village and with locations all around the world, this French Bistro is a staple to Lower Manhattan. They offer delectable coffees and small breakfasts, as well as a full cocktail menu.

Considered part bar, part café and part restaurant, this restaurant makes you feel like you are dining in Europe with its vintage-style décor. There is also a large outdoor dining space that is on a quaint cobble stone street in West Village.

Supermoon Bakehouse
Located in The Lower East Side
Although this is a Bakery and not a restaurant, it is a truly fantastic spot serving breakfast pastries that you can’t miss if you come to New York City. All of their baked goods are hand-made in house and their ingredients sourced locally.
Their menu includes items like croissants and donuts that are both sweet and savory. My favorites are the blueberry lavender twice baked croissant and the spicy NYC Lox croissant.
Indoor & Outdoor Seating
You may sit indoors and enjoy the smell of the fresh baked goods, or enjoy the sunshine and sit on their chairs outside.
Reservations
I recommend checking this place out when they first open, as they do run out of the most popular items quickly. Grab a coffee at a nearby coffee shop and enjoy a decadent breakfast in the Lower East Side.
